Huge lack of customer care once you have paid
Initial contact with the dealership was good and the people I spoke to on the phone were helpful. We paid a holding deposit and travelled to view the car about a week
later. Again, the initial welcome was good from Ryan, and he didn't put any pressure on us which is always nice in a motor dealership. We inspected the car and noticed a few dinks and
dents which were to be expected given it was a second hand car. We took it for a drive, again all seemed ok other than a few minor things like some trim missing inside, no parcel shelf and
the service light having not been reset since PW Millar did a service. On returning to the dealer, I queried a few points in relation to cosmetics, cleanliness and the service light. I
accepted that the parcel shelf wasn't there and would not be replaced, but we agreed on a deal and that the external marks/dents would be addressed (as best as possible), that the car
would be fully valeted once more and the service light would be reset prior to handover. Whilst We returned to collect the car about 2 weeks later. We had already paid in full prior to
collection as requested by the dealer. We completed the handover paperwork which took all of 5 minutes and that was that, I was handed the keys and told where the car was. No effort was
made to take me to the car, show me the car, or run through anything else which I felt was very poor. It felt as though as they already had payment we already didn't matter to them as a
customer and they had done their job. On initial inspection of the vehicle, I immediately noted that a number of the small dents/marks discussed at purchase had clearly not even been
looked at. Having spent a number of years in the trade myself, I have a good understanding of what dent men can do to remove small dinks etc, and these simply hadn't been touched! Whilst I
appreciate we were buying a used vehicle and therefore cosmetic marks are to be expected, it was disappointing to have agreed this will be looked at as part of the deal only for it not to
be. I checked the inside of the car, and to say the valet was poor would be an understatement. The outside was fine, but the inside was grubby, smeary and under seats/cup holders
especially were simply filthy. Once I started the car up, I noticed the full tank was as good as empty. I was not expecting to collect the car with a full tank of fuel (although when
spending £22k maybe it could be argued that a tank of fuel would be justified), but I was not expecting to collect it with not only the fuel light on but the needle so low it was almost
beyond the bottom line! What makes this even worse, is PW Millar have a petrol station on site, which according to the sales person they own and so to put some fuel in wouldn't even cost
them much at all, even just £10 would have made all the difference to the handover experience. I didn't bother to go in and raise my issues at this point, because as I mentioned before I
felt that given PW Millar already had full payment from us, they didn't care for us as customers anymore, and we had a fair drive home so I just wanted to crack on. On heading home, it was
raining and very dark. This highlighted an issue with the windscreen (or so I thought) as it was extremely smeary and almost unsafe at times. We had to stop at the service's so I could
check/wipe the windscreen. It was at this point I also noted that there was no book pack/manual in the car. Whilst on the motorway I further noted a heavy wheel wobble at 65/70 MPH which
wasn't ideal either. Following all the above, I emailed the salesman to highlight my dissatisfaction and his response was somewhat dismissive and I felt a distinct attempt to just fob me
off. I was told their "policy" is to not put fuel in all cars, but (as I highlighted in my response) if they are not putting cars that are effectively running on fumes....then what are
they putting it in! I was told there was no book pack, but if I wanted one they would post one (which they did). They also offered for me to pop in for the service light to be
reset.....knowing full well we live 90 minutes away and so popping in isn't exactly viable for us. The windscreen issue continued and on further inspection the windscreen wipers (front and
rear) were all in a sorry state of repair and so I purchased some new ones to resolve quickly. What is frustrating is that I would have expected PW Millar to notice this when they serviced
and carry out a health check on the car. The fact that this and the wheel balance clearly wasn't has left me questioning what sort of service they did, and even if they actually did one at
all. Overall our experience has not been great at all from PW Millar, from poor prep, to lack of customer care. Despite having "Ford" above the door (which I know is for the service
centre), they are not delivering a main dealer experience and are more in line with a car supermarket who churn cars and customers without a care in the world. Sadly we would not recommend
them to our friends or family as a result.

and can see we have replied to your e-mail that you sent to our salesperson. With regards to your comments about us receiving your payment and then as a customer, you did not matter we
feel this is unreasonable as we have tried to respond and resolve the concerns you have raised. When you first visited our dealership you test-drove and inspected the car for around 1.5
hours and then on handover day you further inspected the car for 40 minutes. The salesperson did ask if you were comfortable with the controls of the vehicle. We acknowledge your comments
regarding the fuel level in the car and whilst we are unable to provide fuel in all our sold vehicles I agree with you that handing the car over with such a fuel level was unfortunate. We
did offer for you to return to our dealership at your convenience so we could look at the condition of the wipers and re set the service light but you declined this offer. I can see we
have posted you the vehicle hand book. I apologise if you feel we were lacking in our customer service but thank you for choosing P W Millar Ltd and hope you enjoy your V W Sharan.

Unethical Pricing Strategy
Had my eye on one of their vehicles, only to notice they have INCREASED their price??? After asking why, I was informed that used prices have increased. Seeing that
this vehicle has not been sold for 5 months suggests this is untrue. There are plenty of used cars on the market, so I will be buying my next vehicle elsewhere.

Thank you for coming back to me so promptly. However, I disagree with what you have said. Used car prices have not increased, nor do they increase other than in exceptional
circumstances (e.g. lockdowns creating supply issues with new cars being manufactured, therefore increasing demand for used cars). You have probably seen the "average" price according
to Auto Trader increase, this is because if all the cheaper listings are sold, it leaves the overprices ones left on sale. So when the valuations are re-run, the "average price has
increased. As with any asset, prices are dictated by supply & demand, and nothing else. Seeing you have had this vehicle for sale for many months highlights it has been overpriced, and
now you have increased the price further! You are in the business of selling cars. The more you sell, the higher your profit margins and bonuses for your staff. Although you will make a
larger profit by selling this car for a higher price, "time" is a much more important factor when calculating your profits. E.g. if you can make £500 profit on a car in a week, this is
worth more than making £1000 in a month. By raising your prices will simply extend the time you generate any profit from this vehicle. It is a shame that companies like yours do not see
this and feel that it is acceptable to use a pricing strategy of simply following the herd. There are plenty of used vehicles for sale on the market, and based on your reply, I would
favour spending my money with a company that uses a far more superior selling strategy rather than one that alienates potential buyers. I am sure if I am to look at your advert again in
a month, this vehicle will still be for sale and probably at a lower price again, achieving nothing advantageous for you. As for part exchange & finance, all other dealers offer the
same service, so this is no something that differentiates you from your competition. All the best

Happy with purchase.
Very helpful and informative. Good Quality car. Disappointed that they didn't give the full value of my car for
part exchange. We had a better quote elsewhere, £500 more. But we liked the car we were buying so much, it fit our criteria almost
perfectly, that we accepted the deal.

Peace of mind of a main dealership with competitive pricing
This Ford dealership is very professional and highly recommended for those looking for peace
of mind and / or not experienced in purchasing cars. Car did come stripped down but even after buying things
like wheel nut, keys and mats, it was still cheaper even than the car flipper across the road. The only thing is
that it's a bit old school in the sense they don't take cards (you have to plan bank transfers), delivery is too
expensive etc. - you will need to go to Cardiff to get the car. Overall highly recommended.
